Change of Program Request Form
As a general rule, requests for a Change of Program are not processed after the 13th week of the semester (sixth week of the summer session) until the Graduate College receives student grades for that semester. A student who is on any type of probation or who is in their first semester of a conditional or Unclassified admission is not permitted to change his or her major.

NOTE: If you meet any of the following restrictions, you must re-apply for admission through the Office of Admission. A Change of Program request is not appropriate for your situation.

  • You were admitted to the Graduate College, but you never enrolled. Now you would like to update your original admission to reflect a different semester.
  • You were admitted to the Graduate College, but you never enrolled. Now you would like to update your original admission to reflect a different program and semester.
  • You have not enrolled as a graduate student in the last year (3 semesters, including summer).
  • You have completed your present graduate program and a major semester (fall or spring) has elapsed since your last enrollment.

If you experience any problem with this form, please contact the Graduate College.

If you selected the Generic Dual Degree as your new major, please type both program names here. Please note that the Generic Dual Degree can only be used for two master’s degree on the same campus. If you have selected any dual degree program as your new major and either requires the selection of a concentration, your Change of Program request cannot be processed unless the concentration(s) is also indicated below.


If you’re applying to a dual degree with the OU College of Law or the OU Health Sciences Center, then you must also submit your Law or OUHSC admission letter to the Graduate College before an admission to the dual program can be processed.
